Think Like a Pancreas: A Practical Guide to Managing Diabetes with Insulin – Gary Scheiner MS, CDE
I do not use the term “game-changer” much because it sometimes feels like it is now used too lightly. I mean I see it in everything from recipe substitutes to hairstyles. But please let the record show that Think Like a Pancreas was truly a game-changing book for us.
When my son was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I was overwhelmed with shock and grief. But once I got through that and began to educate myself more about diabetes, this was the book that helped me understand so much.
Think Like a Pancreas allowed me to better understand the language of diabetes management in order to team with my son’s doctor to better manage his diabetes. I better understood what my son’s diabetes team was telling me and what questions to ask. Gary has a wonderful way of explaining everything in a way that is understandable. And even though we have been dealing with Type 1 for a few years now, we still refer to this book.
It is very evident why Gary is an award-winning diabetes educator. If you’re looking for the best diabetes books on offer, Think Like a Pancreas should be on your list!
Think Like a Pancreas is available in Kindle and paperback.
