An Online Type 1 Diabetes Summit for Families
Welcome to the Diapoint Virtual Family Picnic 2020!
Remember back in March, when we scheduled the first ever Diapoint Family Picnic? It was to be held in Dubai, and was was a wonderful opportunity for the UAE diabetes community to connect with each other.
As we finalized our preparations, COVID-19 arrived, and we all know how the story unfolds. We postponed our event with the plan to hold it later in the year once the weather cooled off.
Six months later, COVID is still here, and everyone is still social distancing. We are not sure when a face to face event will feel right for people with diabetes. So instead of waiting for that to happen, we have decided to come together virtually. The first ever Diapoint Virtual Family Picnic is here!
A Family-Friendly Event to Enjoy At Home
We are very excited to announce the 1st Annual Diapoint Virtual Family Picnic. We may not be together on the green grass of the venue we had in mind, but we can still be together.
We will launch this special event next week, August 16th, at 10am. From Sunday over the next two weeks, we have a series of exciting virtual discussions planned for you.

Dr Khan will discuss the Psychology of a Chronic Condition (Diabetes) with us.

Wednesday, 26 Aug, 16:00, Type 1 Diabetes Super Panel
We will welcome five amazing people with Type 1 Diabetes from around the world to discuss how they live and thrive with Type 1 Diabetes.
Hearing the stories of others who are managing this chronic condition can be so helpful if you are living with diabetes, especially if your diagnosis is new, or if you struggle to meet other fellow people with diabetes.

We will close with a very special session with Brais Dacal about diabetes athletes. Team Novo Nordisk is the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team.

The Online Format Has A Big Advantage
While we cannot be together face to face, this is the next best thing. In some ways, breaking this down virtually gives us more time to learn from each of our presenters.
Please also know that this is a family event. We encourage you to attend sessions with your family members! You can even make your own picnic at home and join!
